SPD Slovakia (Slovak Direct Democracy) Project
The SPD Slovakia (Slovak Direct Democracy) project was created to unite a large number of people and establish an alternative model for governing society and the state. Its goal is to identify, develop, or facilitate the emergence of a better governance system compared to parliamentary democracy. This new model will emerge organically through the organization of a vast community of members. Our activities naturally lead toward the founding of a political party, whose fundamental and core principle is direct democracy.
Imagine a society where politicians, political parties, and even the president do not govern, but instead, citizens make decisions directly about the country’s future. Direct democracy is still relatively rare worldwide. At the national level, it exists in some form only in Switzerland and the United States. The reasons why this remains the case will not be discussed here—many of you already understand them or at least suspect the underlying factors.
SPD is deeply rooted in Eastern philosophy, which asserts that we are all one, and one is all—no one stands above others; we are all equal. Based on this philosophy and our firm belief in it, we dare to assert that advocating for and implementing direct democracy in today’s technologically advanced society is entirely possible.
We also believe that philosophy itself serves as a predecessor to politics, a space where the world’s spirit manifests the need to bring order into affairs and events. That is why we are moving toward a practical step—founding a political party, for which we need 10,000 signatures.
